Can money buy love?

0

Dave says, ”I would marry for money in a heartbeat. Money cannot buy love but you can find happiness when you have enough money to spend on the good things of life. In this harsh economic situation, love can’t put food on the table, buy clothes or pay the bills, so I would look for and marry a rich woman who will bring financial stability into my life. I didn’t come to this world to suffer. I say yes to getting married for money.”

Nancy: I would choose love over money

I would marry for love. Financial stability is important in every relationship, but if you marry for money, you won’t be sure if you truly love your partner or if you love their money. Even if it does not work out, you can know your intentions and expectations were pure from the start. Money cannot buy love, even though it can make loving your partner a smooth ride. If you can’t handle someone when they have nothing, how do you think you can handle them when they have everything?

Stephanie: My husband must be a rich man

It is hard to find out if love is true because people can be mischievous in relationships. I was well off when I met my boyfriend and everyone thinks he was only with me because of money until I became broke and it was time to see if they were indeed right.

Four months after I went downhill financially, he left me for my friend. He went ahead to marry her two years later. I was shattered. Instead of him to help me get back on my feet, he ran away at the first sign of problems because he was with me just for my money.

I have made up my mind not to fall for any love talks again. Any man who will marry me must be rich, so I would marry for money. It seems money is the reason people claim hold on love these days, so I will join them.

Sony: To marry someone for their money is selfish

I would most definitely marry for love. To marry someone for their money is being extremely selfish. It’s true that we need money to survive, but to be with someone for financial gain will turn sour quickly. What happens when the money runs out?

To be financially independent is what I hope to be someday, but not at the expense of my spouse. The marital vows state “for richer, for poorer” says exactly what it means; and it’s unfortunate that so many people do not take those vows seriously. We must have the wisdom and knowledge to go out and make a living for ourselves instead of asking someone to do it for us.

Nneoma: I would marry for love if the man in question is worth it

For an idealistic person like me, I will marry for love as long as the person is really worth loving. But if he is not, then that is another issue. Love can be learned and so stick to the one who will really make you happy not necessarily for the material things he can give you but more for the feeling of peace, compassion, happiness and security that he and only him can provide.

Michelle: I will marry for love because I missed it the first time

My first marriage was for money. I was very young, alone in the world, and needed someone to take care of me.  My husband was elderly, wealthy, and more than happy to fill the role of provider. I never had a day of regret in the fourteen happy years we had together. I was truly heartbroken when he passed away.

Even though I was very young, reckless and carefree, my late husband made an honest woman out of me. Life was tough for me. I was 17 and an orphan. It wasn’t like I had anywhere else to go as my relatives were just tossing me from one place to another. I had nothing to else to do.  He gave me everything I needed, saw to all my needs, and made sure I had an excellent education. I grew to adore him.  He was an amazing man and our union was interesting.

But the best of all his attributes was that he was honest. He became my yardstick to which I measure every other man and they all fail in the honesty department. I didn’t even know about all his money till after he passed away. I knew we were comfortable, but I had no idea. He certainly took care of me, right to the end and beyond.

Today, I am still looking for love. I will marry for love because I missed it the first time. I want to know what it feels like to be completely in the clouds in love for a man.

Olamide: I wanted to marry a very wealthy woman but I failed

My wife of almost three years led me to believe that she was quite wealthy. It was only after we were married did I learn that she had even less money than I did. I was of course quite angry, but by then she had fed me enough of her cooking that I decided to hang in there. I am just enduring because she can make good food. You just can’t get angry with such a good cook. My friends love to come around all the time to savour her food and that makes me happy. I wanted to marry a very wealthy woman but I failed. I didn’t look well. I made a mistake.
