It can be tiring being a woman in Nigeria

Sometimes, it can be tiring being a woman in Nigeria. It’s like you have no life and no right to take decisions on your own. You are expected to live according to the dictates of others.

If a man offends you, you are told how to react. You are told not to get angry and forgive and forget.

If you offend a man the same way, the same people will call for your head. No one will remember to preach forgive and forget to the man.

As a Nigerian woman, if you are sexually harassed, it is your fault. Your dressing must have attracted your rapist and unleashed his animalistic urge.

As a woman in Nigeria, consider it an honour when charlatans and disrespectful cretins harass you on social media even after you have warned them to stop sending you messages written in horrible and brain wrecking grammar.

As a woman in Nigeria, the fact that you are on Facebook means you are looking for boyfriends, husbands, side cocks, bad sex and smelly boys. These ones will attack you for saying no to their stupid sexual demands.

As a woman in Nigeria, your education is a waste because your husband must permit you to work even if he’s a loafer who can’t boast of adequately taking care of his family.

And you must obey because a wise woman builds her home with her hands and her blood too if the need arises while the man scatters it while quoting the famous submission verse.

As a woman in Nigeria, you have no right to say no to men who think you are up for grabs anytime they see your picture. You will be told to stop being proud because you might be rejecting your future husband.

As a woman in Nigeria on Facebook, when you call out someone harassing you in your inbox, you are told to shut up, leave it for God and stop being rude.

I don’t know how we got here but one thing I know is that no one has the right to tell another human being how to react when they are being insulted or harassed.

Women are not inferior to men. Women are equals with men. Nothing gives you the right to harass a woman because you have a sausage dangling between your legs.

If you want to be respected, respect yourself first. You can’t go around disrespecting and harassing women and expect them to take in everything because according to you, you are a man.

This is 2017, and not 1900. Even if you were not taught courtesy and manners at home, brothers teach yourself and stop disgracing your family on Facebook.
