Gal Gadot’s message on feminism is empowering
Gal Gadot has become a feminist icon after her Wonder Woman role.
She recently shared an empowering message about feminism and women are encouraged by that.
Gal Gadot is using the popularity of the movie Wonder Woman to talk frankly about feminism and sexism in the entertainment industry.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Gal Gadot talked about her work on the film, and the importance of Wonder Woman in a Hollywood that still feels at times very backwards.
During the interview, she revealed her personal experiences with sexism.I
“I have had my moments where I’ve felt like men were misbehaving – nothing sexual, but inappropriate in a sexist way. Dismissive. Life wasn’t always rosy and peachy for me as a woman in the world.”
Gal Gadot also she’d more light on the question every woman seems to get asked when they talk about equality for both sexes. She answered the question, ‘are you a feminist?’
She said: “People always ask me, ‘Are you a feminist?’ And I find the question surprising, because I think, ‘Yes, of course. Every woman, every man, everyone should be a feminist. Because whoever is not a feminist is a sexist.”
Growing up in a small city in Israel, Gal and her sister were taught “to believe that they were capable. They were also taught to value themselves.
At the age of 18, Gadot won the 2004 Miss Israel beauty pageant and next competed in the Miss Universe 2004 pageant in Ecuador. She carried out her two-year military service from the age of 20, then studied law.
She also took a quick jaunt to law school before starring in the highest grossing female directed live action film.
After declaring her stand as a feminist, when one asks who is Wonder Woman, we say a wonder woman is Gal Gadot.
Gal Gadot husband is Israeli real estate developer Yaron Versano. They got married on September 28, 2008. They have two daughters.
