Earlier, the Prosecuting Counsel, Mr. Donatus Abah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 5 at Lugbe village, Abuja.

Abah told the court that the defendant beat up his wife, Doosur Ankyoor, who was carrying eight-month pregnancy, to death.

He said the defendant beat her severely, leading to her death and that of the unborn baby.

He said the offence contravened sections 221, 235 and 236 of the Penal Code.

Section 235 deals with preventing the child from being born, and 236 causing the death of an unborn child.

His counsel, Adama, had prayed the court to grant bail to the defendant to enable him take care of the three children left behind by his late wife. (NAN)

This issue of domestic violence is not a child’s play. The death of women in violent marriages is something we shouldn’t stop talking about. You can imagine a man raising his hands on his pregnant wife and beat her till he killed her and their unborn child.

Now that he has committed double murder, his lawyer is claiming he should be released so that he can go back home and take care of the three children his late wife left behind. why didn’t think about the welfare and future of his children when he was beating their mom?

These stories are heartbreaking and chilling. Women should stop tolerating abuse from violent men. Now, she’s dead with her unborn baby and the man might go free to continue living his life. Many men who beat women don’t stop, they continue physically abusing their women until they are stopped.

Nigerian women, receive sense! It is not a sign of love for a man to beat you.
