Housewife versus independent woman…
I have noticed that many people do not understand the difference between the two. A housewife as defined by the dictionary a woman who sits at home to take care of the kids and do domestic chores while her husband is the only bread winner.
This stance was majorly practiced in ancient times where men are bound to cater for the upkeep of the home solely relegating the women to the background for strictly domestic affairs.
It is no doubt that trend and times have changed alongside challenges with greater expectations making it a cumbersome task for the men alone.
The quality of life as clamoured by today’s wives is way overboard unlike the days of our mothers. The overall overview expectations are way too overboard for any woman to just sit at home and be redundant.
I cannot downplay the fact that so many factors are also shortchanging today’s wives in aspect’s of having dependable domestic staff and other support team which our mothers had handy even while being housewives.
The sermon of independence isn’t saying everybody must work or be employed but it is telling women to engage their brains and initiate business ideas that can be yielding money.
Women should engage in one thing or the other that can generate resources to add up to their financial status so as not to be too dependent on their men.
Today’s society no doubt is blessed with the power of social networking. Many house wives can leverage on that and upgrade their status while battling with the challenges of being sit at home mums.
Not many women are blessed with the comfort of having paid domestic staff such as cooks, gardeners, house keeping assistants and what have you.
There are some women who are swimming in buoyancy and are mandated not to earn a penny but sit and enjoy hubby’s wealth. Kudos to you amazing bunches! Enjoy your heavenly abode.
Having no extra income is a waste no matter how affluent your husband is. We should not totally abuse, condemn, disregard or castigate the call for financial independence for women. Its benefits are way too overwhelming to be ignored.
When next you read about the tussle between independent women and housewives, don’t assign an undertone to it, rather take credible excerpts where necessary and apply to yourself. Knowledge is never lost or too much to acquire. We are all work in progress.
Women, while being a housewife cloud your presence with meaningful engagement. Be the energy he cannot function without. You can be a house wife and still be a brain pivoting some of his business affairs. You can be a housewife and still be his brain box.
This whole sermon is for women to quit redundancy and be financially independent. I personally will not advice anyone to just sit and wait till Oga brings money home.
If you are a housewife, be innovative. Be productive. Be aspiring. Be resourceful. Be goal oriented. Be an energy to reckon with. Remain a vessel of blessings unto your respective homes so that the lives of your husbands will be long.”
