Nigerian singer and song writer, Lami Phillips recently said that being a Mrs is not an accomplishment.

Lami Phillips said this because of how some people disrespect others because of their age, marital status and the fact that they have children.

She is of the opinion that everyone deserves respect no matter how they are. Read her post below.

“Being a Mrs is not an accomplishment. Having children is not an accomplishment. Both are blessings. Those who are Ms or not with children aren’t less than. They are living their lives and fulfilling purpose. Be on your own lane.

Being a Mrs is not an accomplishment

Just saying! Like sometimes I hear people saying “how can they talk to her like that, don’t they know she’s somebody’s wife?”

Hello, she is “somebody” end of story. Or people saying “am I your mate”? Recently someone who was like 21 or so was talking to a 17 year old with “I am not your mate” Toné!

Hello, people should be treated with respect regardless of age. Don’t get it twisted! All these people particularly women who carry age on their head, take it easy. Just treat people well.

That your “junior” in secondary school might be your boss one day. Humility and character are key.”

But someone disagreed with her opinion on marriage not being an achievement. The person said:

“In my own opinion, being disrespectful or talking to people anyhow isn’t a factor of someone’s status it’s a factor of attitude and upbringing. As for me, my greatest achievement in life is my kids and my marriage. I am unapologetic about it. I won’t mock anyone that isn’t married but yet that won’t make me say mine isn’t an accomplishment. My kids are my greatest accomplishment.”

Another person said:

“Unfortunately, the typical Nigerian society and mentality thinks otherwise. The married earn more respect than the singles. The singles are treated with less respect and made to feel irresponsible.”
