Marriage should have an expiry date says Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa, Nigerian media personality, Vlogger and entrepreneur recently shared her thoughts on the longevity of marriage and it didn’t go down well with some people, especially religious folks.

According to her, marriage should have a renewal clause after a number of years and it should also have an expiry date.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Toke Makinwa stated that if human beings switch partners after a number of years the way animals do, there would be less hassle, less drama and just a good time.

Here are some of her tweets:

“I think marriage should have an expiry date and subject to renewal clause after a certain number of years, like the way we renew agreements. People should be allowed to look back on time, grade themselves and hit the renewal button if they can still stand each other.

Toke Makinwa said marriage should have an expiry date

“Imagine a world where we could all just switch partners after a number of years the way animals do (after a day or two), with no wahala, no stress, everybody good, do you think it’ll be better? Less hassle, less drama and just a good time.”

“Each time I see people who have been married for 10 years and more, I can’t lie I respect them BIG, for holding it together and not losing it. It is a lot of work and I wish many people were more honest about that journey.”

Some Nigerians have reacted to her tweets. While a few people agreed with her, others resorted to insults as usual. It is clear some people cannot disagree with another person without insulting them.

Our teenage girls should be aware and avoid these old cargoes who have successfully ruined their lives. Everything coming out coming out from the mouth of the likes of this one is to make sure your life is as miserable as theirs; nothing but regrets in their hearts.

Madam you can still remain single, marriage is not by force.

One of her followers, @Ehis_Ebhos wrote: “Good thought. But the truth is, it is God that instituted marriage, and plan is for it to be forever.”

Another follower @OtavboruoOvie wrote “If we apply this in not just marriages also everything that has to do with life in general then there will be so many unexplainable situations that will be happening to us. Just like the way you do business and fail and try again and end up getting it, that’s how life is.”

What do you all think?
