Court orders senator Elisha Abbo to pay N50 million for assaulting nursing mother in sex toy store

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has awarded N50 million in favour of the woman assaulted by Senator Elisha Abbo.

In 2019, a video went viral showing the assault play out in a sex toy store in Abuja.

Elisha Ishaku Abbo savagely attacked Osimibibra Warmate during a misunderstanding and the video caused outrage.

There was even more outrage in July 2020 when a court dismissed charges against Abbo. The magistrate ruled that the evidence and exhibits tendered to the court did not prove the criminal charges against the lawmaker.

This ruling was made despite a video recording showing the assault and an apology from the senator admitting his wrong.

Weeks after the magistrate court found the senator not guilty of criminal assault, the FCT High Court found Senator Elisha Abbo liable for his assault on Osimibibra Warmate. The court has ordered him to pay 50 million Naira.

The judgement comes after Osimibibra Warmate initiated a civil claim for damages.

Ishaku Elisha Cliff Abbo is a Nigerian politician. He hails from Muchalla Ward, Mubi-North LGA of Adamawa State. He is the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in Adamawa State at the Nigerian 9th National Assembly.

I remember the way many Nigerian men made excuses for this man who should have lost his senatorial seat for slapping a woman in public like an untamed animal.

Some of these men went to the extent of calling the victim a whore for being in a sex toy shop. These are some women’s husbands who demand submission like oxygen.

Now, they should go and beat the Judge for this latest judgment. Bunch of badly raised, ill mannered boys everywhere supporting violence against women.

Until this society starts punishing men for raising their hands against women, this behavior won’t stop. If Nigerian men know that they can lose everything by beating women, they will learn to keep their hands to themselves.
