How to take good care of your body

0

Ladies, take good care of your bodies. You have this one body and you need it to be functioning a hundred percent for you to be able to achieve your dreams. If you haven’t been particularly good at taking care of yourself, now is the time to start taking your health serious.

As an adult, you always control what children eat and make them eat a balanced diet while you neglect to take good care of your own health. They say health is wealth and that is very true. If you are sick, your whole life automatically comes to a standstill. You spend money on hospital bills and time on hospital beds.

If you consume large amounts of sugar daily, eat loads of white carbohydrates, download alcohol constantly and get very little exercise, you are playing with your health. Not paying attention to your health can cost you your life goals and the kind of life you want to live.

Now is the time to change your lifestyle and take charge of your health by making positive changes. Here are some ways to take good care of your health and live a healthier, happier life:

Sleep

As an adult, you need to get an average of 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Sleep deprivation affects your mood, concentration, attention, memory, ability to fight off infection, and libido. Inadequate sleep can also lead to weight gain, depression, car accidents, and cause serious health problems such as diabetes, heart attack and stroke. Create time for sleep. Stay away from your phone and bright lights when you want to sleep. This will help you sleep better.

Hydration

Mild dehydration can affect your mood and energy level and your mood. Doctors recommend that adults should drink a minimum of eight glasses of water per day, but that amount may need to be higher or lower depending on your size and level of physical activity. If you want to constantly stay dehydrated, start by adding just one extra glass of water a day to what you are already drinking. Take a glass of water before you eat and drink a glass of water before you take your bath. This helps keep you hydrated.

Nutrition

With different food allergies and intolerance, nutrition is not an easy thing these days. If you want to take care of your body well, cut down on sugar, eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Maintain good portion control standards for your body in terms of your height and energy level. Eating right is not only about weight, it is about being healthy. You need good food to fuel your body perfectly. Plan your meals ahead weekly if you can because this prevents you from eating junk food. Cut back on foods you know are not healthy for you even if it is not using sugar to drink tea.

Exercise

Exercise is not only for weight loss because it does far more than that. Exercises help combat diseases such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, stroke, depression, heart disease and some types of cancer. It boosts certain brain chemicals which leaves you feeling happier and more relaxed. Exercise boosts your energy, improves your sex life and helps you sleep better.

Stop making excuses why you can’t exercise. You can start by moving more and being physically active. Park further away from where you are going and walk to your destination. Take the stairs. Dance at home alone. Play hide and seek with your children at the park. Just choose one way to move more.

Dental Health

Have you had your teeth cleaned or gone for a dental check-up? Did you know that poor dental health and gum disease have actually been linked to heart disease and lower life expectancy? That is a good reason to take your dental health seriously. Even though you brush your teeth every morning, incorporate night brushing into your regimen. Start flossing your teeth too and book a dental appointment for yourself.

Mental Health

You should know that your mental health is very important too. There are steps that you can take to decrease stress from affecting your body and mind and improve your self-care. Take a walk, go and visit a friend, take a bubble bath with Epsom salts, read a good book, go for a massage, pray, write down your daily experiences in a journal, and see a counselor if necessary. You can also take care of your mental health and take a few minutes a day to sit with your eyes closed and breathe in and out five times slowly.

Book appointments

Do you need to see a doctor for a check-up or a specialist for something that is disturbing your health? Do you need to see a nutritionist, physiotherapist, chiropractor, or massage therapist? Make an appointment today and care for your body. You need to stop procrastinating about caring for your body, mind and soul.
