No woman can build her home without a willing man. It takes two committed and sensible people to make a marriage work.
One woman sent this message to a Facebook page and I agree with her.
She said:
“My husband and I have been married for 12 years. From the onset, I made it clear to him through every means possible that infidelity or cheating was a deal breaker for me.
I will not be married to a man who doesn’t think I am enough for him and will jeopardize all that we have built together.
We decided to be transparent with our phones, emails and Facebook account to check each other and to build trust. He doesn’t even have his own Facebook account, he uses mine.
My husband doesn’t keep female friends and I don’t have male friends either. We only have work colleagues or family friends of the opposite sex.
With all the checks, was there any time my marriage was tried? Absolutely.
Friends will try to invite him to clubs and rubbish places where they cannot take their wives to. One time he wanted to go and I said no.
We ended up having a big argument but I stood my ground. I told him if he goes, I will also go to where women in Lagos go to hangout without their husbands. He got the message.
We have committed our time to our work and raising outstanding children. When we are not working, we are travelling, cooking together and watching movies.
We decided to go on date nights every other week and sometimes invite other couples to join us. It takes two to tango.
A woman cannot build her house without a willing man, which is why it is important to settle for a man who is reasonable, listens to you and respects you.”
Can a woman have a happy and successful marriage without the contribution of her husband? No.
