Nigerian women need to stop trying desperately to prove they are good women. This society doesn’t care about them so there’s no point proving anything to other people.
I get upset when I see women trying to prove that they are good women to irresponsible and uncaring men. I mean, why are you punishing yourself that way?
A man shows you through his words and actions that he doesn’t love you, respect you or regard you as a human being worthy of his care and attention and you are still holding on to him as if he has your umbilical cord? Common, you can do better.
A man clearly doesn’t want to work on himself so that he can become a better human, you are still with him wasting your precious time, trying to pepper your rivals and trying to prove to society that you are a patient woman. This society doesn’t care.
A man is accused of theft, rape or doing something bad and before you know it, his wife comes out to defend him even when the evidence is there that he’s guilty. Why?
You won’t see a man standing up publicly for his wife who was accused of anything but women will be standing up and down so that they will be called good wives.
These women want to be hailed by society as good women who stood by their men. Turn the tables and let a woman be accused of a crime without evidence and you won’t hear anything from her husband. He won’t come out publicly to defend her. Shouldn’t this tell women something?
A man doesn’t do anything to add value to a woman’s life yet she sticks with him just so this society can hail her for building a man and afterwards, she will be rewarded with marriage.
A man is dating one woman but he impregnates other women while still in a relationship and then, he goes back to marry the one he has cheated on and humiliated for years and people applaud her for being a patient dog that eats the fattest bone.
Dear Nigerian women, stop it! Stop trying desperately to prove that you are worthy of love, care, attention and good things to this society. You are wasting your time. This society doesn’t care about women.
Live your life. Stay true to yourself. Stop tolerating nonsense from men because you want to be called a virtuous woman. Stop hurting yourself just to please this society. It’s not worth it.
No matter what you do to prove your worth to this society, it will never be enough. So, why not live life on your own terms? Why not do things because you want to and not because you want people to call you a good woman?
