I just remembered when a Nigerian woman called me a prostitute because of a Facebook post.

According to this woman, I was a prostitute who was recruiting other gullible women to join my prostitution business because I shared a post she didn’t agree with.

Post: Women were not created to marry, they were created to fulfill purpose.

Madam: I disagree. A complete woman must be married. Being successful alone without a man is unfulfilling. The woman will be rich and not happy.

Me: What about women who don’t want to get married or have children? Are you saying they are living unfulfilling lives?

Madam: They are not happy. It is not our culture. What’s the point of having money without a companion? People say this out of frustration and not getting what they truly deserve. Who says love is not sweet? Who does not want to have a family of their own? Na lie dey dia.

Me: Must you be married to have a companion?

 

Madam: It is unafrican. That’s why some Reverend sisters are denouncing their oaths and stepping out to get married. I haven’t seen women who don’t want to get married. Every woman desires to have a man to call her own.

Me: Arguing with you is pointless. You cannot speak for every woman. If you cannot be happy without a man and marriage, that’s you.

You are not all the women in the world. You cannot tell them what makes them happy and fulfilled. You should speak for yourself.

Me: You should ask yourself why you are so bothered about women who don’t want to get married.

Since marriage is the best thing that happened to you and love is sweet, why are you hell bent on telling other women how to live their lives?

You should face yours and let other women define what happiness and fulfillment means to them.

You cannot call other women liars and frustrated humans because their reality is different from yours. It says a lot about you.

Madam: Sure, feminist find it hard to be under the control of a man. They preach independence, career woman and at the end, what happened?

You cannot control my emotion or force me to follow your thoughts blindly. I am exposed and educated and exchanging ideas make life interesting.

That encounter was so funny. The things I have seen on Facebook leave me in stitches sometimes. Is it her olosho? Why is she pained though?
