If you are a woman who puts down other women, shame on you

1

Shame on you, if you are a woman who puts down other women.

Shame on you, if you are a woman who is envious of another woman’s success but can’t pay the price she paid to get to where she is.

If you are a woman and you are scheming to break up another woman’s relationship because you feel she doesn’t deserve love, shame on you.

If you are a woman who joins men to dispossess a widow of her late husband’s properties, shame on you.

If you are a woman and all you do is police other women, to judge them and belittle them, you are a shame to womanhood.

If you are a woman and you keep seeing other women as competition instead of your sisters, you have failed.

If you are a woman and you keep policing other women without offering your support when they truly need it, shame on you.

If you are a woman who supports men treating their wives and partners with disrespect because you suffered the same thing, shame on you.

If you are a woman who normalizes the abuse of other women because you don’t know what standards mean, you have failed.

Most women will tell you that they have survived at least one mean woman in their past: a woman who dismissed, put down, or even socially tormented them.

Most women will gladly tell you that they can’t trust their female friends because they have been hurt and betrayed by women they trusted in the past.

Most women will tell you that it is women who give them a hard time at their jobs and even team up with men to bring them down.

It’s sad. Why do women hate each other? Why do women hate on other women who are better than them? Why do women feel threatened by other women that they try to make a mess of their efforts and bring them down?

If women keep fighting one another, how can we then collectively break the hold of patriarchy that has kept us subjugated for decades?

If you keep joining men to throw out defenseless women when their husbands die, your turn will come.

If you keep bringing down other women, you will never rise. You can be a different woman, be your sister’s keeper, become a woman’s woman.

Life is tough enough for women in this part of the world. Don’t add to another woman’s pain. Become a balm to soothe her pain.

Only then can we rise together. Women need to be united if they must break free from the shackles of patriarchy in this society.
