Media personality, Shade Ladipo, has reacted to the post made by actress Ruth Kadiri where she called out Mo Abudu and the organizers of the Eko Star Film and TV award for ”overlooking” her during the award ceremony.

Shade pointed out that instead of Ruth being “bitter,” she should be better and expect to be recognized next time the award ceremony holds.

As part of the Eko Tourism, Art & Culture Series 2021, the Nigerian International Film Summit, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture & Tourism and EbonyLife Place owned by media mogul Mo Abudu, organized the Eko Star Film & TV Awards, honouring talented female pioneers who call the shots in the growing Nigerian film industry.

At the ceremony which held on April 12 in Victoria Island, Lagos, a number of female celebrities won awards, including Nancy Isime, Kate Henshaw, Toyin Abraham, Osas Ighodaro, Omoni Oboli, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and others.

Ruth Kadiri did not receive any award and she took to Instagram to say her piece while tagging the organizers of the award event. According to her, she wasn’t recognised and given an award despite her efforts and hard work, because she doesn’t belong to any clique.

Reacting to Ruth’s outburst, Shade in a post shared on her Instastories, asked Ruth to stop being “bitter” and instead be better so that her work can be recognized when next the award ceremony takes place.

“For the actress (atink it was Ruth Kadiri because there are so many ‘actresses’ now) who didn’t get recognized this year Remember that last year there was no platform like this to even be recognized so instead of being bitter Be better, now there is a platform and maybe next year will be your year or maybe not.”

“Let’s give Mo Abudu her flowers while she’s alive abeg. Every platform this woman has, she uses it to celebrate women constantly. Celebrate with others & maybe they will celebrate with you.”
