Nigerian celebrities are dragging one another on social media over the public mourning of singer Sound Sultan whose death was announced today.

Many people took to their social media handles to mourn the late musician who lost his fight with throat cancer but that didn’t go down well with some celebrities.

Music executive, Sosoberekon while expressing his sadness chided people who did not check up on the singer while he was sick but are now posting his photos online. He fired the first shot.

He wrote:

“How many of you checked on him when you heard he was sick? The news was everywhere. Now everyone is posting now that he’s gone. Rest In Peace @soundsultan you were a very great & amazing guy.”

HIP TV boss, Ayo Animashaun, spotted his post and left a comment, stating that no one has the right to castigate anybody. Animashaun’s post reads

”Only @soundsultan knew that and let it be between him, God, those who did and those who didn’t. No one really has the right to castigate anybody. Not even his family. May our intention and hearts judge us. Some of our  friends are going through so much now….they are where Lanre was three months ago. I pray they survive….for those that feel that they should have done better. I hope these ones survive it…but you can start by checking on them.”

Uti Nwachukwu responded fire for fire: He said:

A lot of Nigerians are so bitter and resentful! And then, they try to project that misery on people that God has blessed.

Someone dies, people are hurting and your problem is who’s showing fake love and who’s showing real love ?

You think all of us are like you and your shallow validation seeking fam and friends that advertise every friendship and relationship online ?

Who do una this thing sef? No be Celebrities cause your problems o! Focus on your God so that Satan will finally leave you and your family alone

Evil Degenerates. Tueeeeh.”

Then Comedian Julius Agu’ s wife dropped her own post. She wrote:

“If you never checked up on them or reached out while they were sick, you have no right posting them in death.

If you have never celebrated them in any of their milestones openly, you have no right doing that openly in death.”

DJ Neptune doused the whole tension with his peaceful post.

Let love lead regardless of the situation. Tomorrow isn’t guarantee for you and I, God protect us all

Just had a reflection about life. Losing my dad at age 16 and being the only boy and last child, it wasn’t easy but I’m grateful for where I am today. To everyone going through this phase, I pray God see you through.

My Dad was a great man, he helped a lot of people, he never wanted to see people around him suffer but life wasn’t fair to him. A lot he couldn’t achieve, I’m happy I have done some and still working hard to achieve more.

Shedding tears typing. It’s really not easy to be a man in this our crazy society. God help us all.”
