Late Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman was remembered by family and friends on Monday, on the day he would have turned 45.

A post from Boseman’s Instagram account, which is maintained by his family, showed the late actor on a hike in nature, clad in a black tank top and grey jeans with a backpack.

‘While we’re all missing his incredible spirit today, we are grateful for the lessons and legacy he left behind,’ the post read. ‘This day gave him to us- we will continue to celebrate him and take joy in all of the love you are sending his way. Happy heavenly birthday, Chad.’

Boseman’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom costar Viola Davis, 56, posted on Instagram, ‘Happy birthday in Heaven! Oh how you’re missed…..your talent, your heart, your legacy! Love you King ….forever’.

His Black Panther costar Lupita Nyong’o, 38, shared a shot of herself and Boseman embracing to honor his birthday.

Boseman, best known for his role as King T’Challa in Black Panther, also starred in movies like 42, Marshall, Get on Up and Draft Day in his feted career.

He received a posthumous Oscar nomination earlier this year for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The performance did garner him the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

The actor, who died August 28, 2020, was diagnosed with stage three cancer in 2016, and underwent ‘countless surgeries and chemotherapy’ in his battle with the disease, his family said following his passing.

Boseman’s family said he ‘died in his home, with his wife and family by his side,’ adding that ‘it was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.’
