Nollywood actress, Ngozi Chiemeke, shot dead in Delta State

Ngozi Chiemeke, a Nollywood actress, was fatally shot in Delta state.

The up-and-coming actress was shot at her POS shop on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, on Deeper Life Road, in Boji Boji, Owa, Ika North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Her killers are still at large.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said an investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators.

Friends and fans of Ngozi Chiemeke have been thrown into mourning since the news of his sudden death filtered in.

Some residents of Boji-Boji Owa have complained the tragic incident occurred within the same short period, the late Anthony Mkpado, the Chief Executive Officer, of Mkpado Bookshop, Boji-Boji Owa, Opposite First Bank branch, was gruesomely murdered.

Some Nollywood actresses have gone to be with the Lord this year. Among them is veteran actress, Rachel Oniga who died of a heart related issue on July 30th, 2021.

She was instrumental to the movie industry in Nigeria and died at age 64

Oniga began her acting career in 1993, shortly after her divorce. Her first movie was titled “Onome” and her debut Yoruba movie, titled “Owo Blow”  made her a screen delight.

The late Rachel Oniga was a native of Eku, Delta State, and was born in Ebutte-Metta, Lagos on May 23, 1957.

After she was made popular by her role in a Yoruba family drama, Owo Blow, she also featured in other films and drama series like The Wedding Party, 30 Days in Atlanta, Doctor Bello and the popular Wale Adenuga’s television series, Super Story.

Veteran Yoruba actress, Mrs. Folake Aremu popularly called Orisabunmi, died on January 5, 2021.

Her death, which threw the theatre industry into sadness, was confirmed by a family source.

May the souls of these departed actresses rest in peace and may their families, friends and fans be comforted.
