A man donated his kidney to his girlfriend’s mother but the girlfriend ended up marrying someone else a month later.

Uziel Martínez, a teacher from Mexico, made a series of videos recounting the sad experience.

The resident of Baja California, Mexico, took to TikTok to narrate how he donated his kidney to his ex-girlfriend’s mother.

His girlfriend left him not long after and married someone else within a month of their break-up.

Martinez’s video has now gone viral as people sympathize with him.

Reacting to the messages of support he received, he assured people that he is doing well, both mentally and physically. He added that he is also recovering well from a kidney transplant.

He insisted that he does not hold any grudge against his ex-girlfriend despite the heartbreak.

He told Mexico Daily News: “I don’t have anything against her … we’re not friends but we don’t hate each other. I only made the video for TikTok, I didn’t think it would get out of control”.

While most people can live a normal life with just one kidney, it’s not equally safe for everyone to try. Potential donors must be in good health and be free of kidney disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and a host of other issues. You have to be strong enough to make it through surgery and anesthesia. This answers the question if it’s smart to donate your kidney.

You don’t have to be related to someone to donate a kidney to them. In fact, one in four living organ donors is not biologically related to the recipient (the person who receives a donated organ). Spouses, in-laws, close friends, church members, and even members of the same community can all be living donors.

Some donors have reported long-term problems with pain, nerve damage, hernia or intestinal obstruction. These risks seem to be rare, but there are currently no national statistics on the frequency of these problems. In addition, people with one kidney may be at a greater risk of: high blood pressure. These are the risks of giving someone your kidney.
