Hillary Clinton, former first lady and two-time presidential candidate received backlash on social media for the outfit she wore on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival.
On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Clinton attended the global premiere of ‘White Noise’ at the 79th Venice International Film Festival.
She was spotted on the red carpet wearing flat white shoes and a baby blue kaftan with a beaded neckline that draped over her body like a sheet.
Social media users immediately responded by making fun of her appearance. One person wrote, “Hillary, I love you–but oy vey. Fire your stylist.”
“Someone get Memaw back in the house, she’s been drinking on her meds again,” another added.
Someone wondered, “Did she perform the squirrel flying auit thing alongside a mountainside there?”
“Pure comfort and I’m here for it! She’ll be the envy of everyone wearing two pairs of Spanx!” another user hilariously wrote.
Someone wondered, “Why’d she dress like she’s about to make the jump in midsommar?” “Lock her up for this outfit alone,” another added.
“How many people did she kill before she got there?” yet another user hilariously said.
Many however defended the former first lady for her choice of outfit. One person wrote, “Hillary is 74 and looks fine. She can wear whatever she wants.”
“OMG! 😍 she looks like an angel!” another added. “She is one of the most beautiful women in the world. In addition to everything else,” another user remarked.
Clinton has previously received criticism for her dress choices or lack thereof. Clinton received heavy criticism in May for attending the 2022 Met Gala in New York without a mask.
Meanwhile, the former US presidential candidate seems to be quite the fan of Moroccan fashion as she has also been spotted wearing a red Kaftan during a reception organized by the late King Hassan II at the Royal Palace in Marrakech in 1999.
Despite the recent social media trolls, the former first lady, who was accompanied by 63-year-old Italian politician and lawyer Dario Franceschini, appeared to stride down the red carpet with enthusiasm as she attended the ‘White Noise’ world premiere.
