Adam Levine is currently the talk of the town, not because he is expecting his third child with his wife Behati Prinsloo but because of the fact he allegedly cheated on his wife and the scandal now has more media coverage than ever.
Model Sumner Stroh shared a screenshot in which Levine asks her if he can name his third child after her. This has stirred an online debate where people are arguing whether sending someone a flirty direct message is cheating or not.
Several women have come forward in an attempt to expose the Maroon 5 frontman. In these series of screenshots, a chain started by Sumner Stroh, the ‘Girls Like You’ singer can be seen complimenting these women and continue to send flirtatious texts.
While apologizing and addressing these allegations, Adam Levine said in an Instagram story, “A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air. I used poor judgement in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner.”
The story continued, “I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period of my life.” As this entire drama is caused by direct messages, people are now debating whether it is cheating to send direct messages while you’re committed to someone else or not.
A debate has sparked online that discusses if it’s cheating to hide your text messages or when you slide into someone else’s direct messages. One user believes it’s not cheating but it all depends on the intention, writing, “No, unless your intention of “sliding” is to flirt and when you hide it sa partner mo.”
One user points out the things you should not do when you’re in somebody else’s direct messages, saying, “I only talk to my friends in dms if its someone else that u have a motive with romantically or sexually or even flirting platonically… ure DUN” One user believes that it is a red flag, “It’s not cheating but I’d consider it a red flag.”
One user wrote, “No but depends on who the person was and what they’re talking about. kasi everyone needs privacy, but if he proceeds to “hide” or “lie” when i asked then that’s suspicious”. Another user likes to believe that sliding into someone’s DMs are normal but only with purpose saying, “What was the reason? if harmless then ofc no” One user believes it is cheating as they can spend time with their special someone instead of sliding into DMs saying, “Yes bc why would i slide into someone dms when i can have my time with my s/o”
