2022 turned out to be the most extraordinary year for Tom Cruise and gave him the highest-grossing movie of his professional career in the form of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.

The movie, which serves as a legacy sequel to 1986 original ‘Top Gun’, sees Cruise reprising the role of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he is given the responsibility of training the best of ‘Top Gun’ graduates for a mission that has never been done before.

Fans were in awe of how Cruise was still able to do things that other might not even think about and didn’t shy away from watching the movie multiple times.

However, the movie is in no mood to stop at all and has achieved another massive milestone before 2022 comes to an end.

There is no doubt that ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is the biggest movie of 2022 and did exceptionally well at the box office.

Tom Cruise took the decision not to release the movie on a streaming platform until its theatrical run came to an end because it is meant to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Now that the movie has finally made its way to Paramount+, it has started to reign supreme there as well, giving an indication that the theatre-only original run won’t stop people from tuning in to the streaming platform.

Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ took the world by storm when it hit theatres in May 2022. The movie turned out to be a huge hit and earned universal acclaim for direction, acting, storyline, and epic aerial sequences.

Apart from getting rave reviews, ‘Maverick’ was the first movie to earn more than the $1 billion mark at the box office and many believed that it was a frontrunner for Best Picture nomination at the 95th Academy Awards.

The film created a strong buzz before the Oscar season started and was named Best Picture by the National Board of Review (NBR).
