Bride k!lled, groom injured by drunk driver minutes after leaving wedding reception

Samantha ‘Sam’ Hutchinson, 34, was tragically killed while leaving her wedding in South Carolina on Friday night.

Reportedly, she was exiting the party around 10 pm in a golf cart with her husband, Aric Hutchinson, when a drunk driver rear-ended them, killing Sam and seriously injuring her husband Aric Hutchinson.

The blushing Samantha had been “grinning ear to ear” at the Folly Beach wedding location seconds before she was fatally struck. There were four individuals in the golf cart, including the newlyweds and two family members who were accompanying them.

“The golf cart was thrown over 100 yards and rolled several times,” Annette Hutchinson, the mother of Aric wrote on a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Sam’s burial and medical costs for Aric and his family. Aric is said to be in a critical condition besides a brain injury he has had two reconstruction surgeries and numerous broken bones.

Annette’s son-in-law Benjamin Garrett and grandson Brogan Garrett from Morgan, Utah were escorting the couple from the reception in a golf cart when they were struck from behind by a “drunk driver traveling 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Hutchinson’s mother further said, “I was handed Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows.” She added. “Aric has lost the love of his life.

The couple made their home in the groom’s home state of Utah as well as South Carolina. The bride originally hails from North Carolina. Samantha’s company, Huntersville, North Carolina-based XenTegra, a global IT service provider, announced her passing on LinkedIn and noted that she was an “integral member” of their team. While the groom graduated from Bonneville High School in South Ogden, Utah, and played college football for Snow College and Utah Tech.

The driver of the car, Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI involving great bodily injury or death and reckless homicide as per WYFF. She is being held with no bond. “Her blood draw results are pending. An investigation into the crash determined she was going 65 mph at the time she struck the cart,” police said.
