In a captivating video posted on her Instagram page, @hildabaci, Hilda could be seen brimming with excitement as a car pulled up to her compound, delivering the highly anticipated plaque that commemorates her extraordinary feat as the new holder of the longest cooking marathon record.
The video captured the sheer joy and anticipation that filled the air as a representative from GWR presented Hilda Baci with the prestigious plaque which was safely enclosed in a carton.
Eager to unwrap her prized possession, Hilda’s friend advised her to wait for an official unveiling, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the already momentous occasion.
As the video of Hilda’s ecstatic reaction spreads across social media platforms, fans and well-wishers dropped congratulatory comments for her remarkable achievement.
On Tuesday, June 13, Hilda Baci was officially declared the Guinness World Record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
In a statement on its website, GWR officially announced the young chef as its latest record holder in the cooking category.
The statement read, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”
Hilda prepared over 100 pots of food during the contest, beating the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Lata Tondon (India) in 2019.
According to GWR, Baci attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.
“As with all ‘longest marathon’ records, the participant is permitted a five-minute rest break for every continuous hour of activity. These rest breaks can be accumulated if not taken. They were the only times Hilda could use the bathroom or sleep during the attempt,” the statement partly read.
Hilda’s winning tweet by GWR has also since been declared their best-performing tweet thus far. Confirming this via their official Twitter page, GWR wrote, “Yeah, so this is our best-performing tweet of all time with nearly 25 million news feeds reached.”
