Tiwa Savage reveals nervousness almost ruined her performance at King Charles III’s coronation
Nigerian singer, and Queen of Afribeats Tiwatope Savage-Balogun popularly known as Tiwa Savage has revealed that she was nervous during her performance at the historical coronation of the British monarch, King Charles III, which almost ruined the moment for her.
Tiwa Savage gained world dominance as the Queen of Afrobeats, having been the only Nigerian artiste invited to perform at the coronation concert of King Charles III and Queen Camillaat Windsor Castle in England, which of course, was another big win for the talented superstar.
This was the first time a Nigerian artist performed at a royal coronation in England, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Tiwa Savage.
The event was attended by over 20,000 people and was widely covered by the BBC, with over 18 million people globally tuning in to watch the concert.
Appearing recently on the Good Morning Britain TV Show, Tiwa Savage admitted that she was nervous in the first few seconds of her performance at Windsor Castle.
She said, “It was beautiful [to perform for the King]. It was such an amazing moment to represent the Commonwealth and to be on that stage.
“I was nervous, I will say the first few seconds. But as soon as I started singing, I said, ‘I have to just get swept away by the crowd’.”

Savage sings in English and Yoruba; her music is a blend of Afrobeats, R&B, pop and hip-hop. Savage’s contributions to the Nigerian music industry have earned her several achievements.
In October 2021, Savage told Power 105.1‘s Angie Martinez that she was blackmailed over a leaked video of herself and her partner having sex. Savage’s partner accidentally uploaded the video to Snapchat and took it down almost immediately. However, someone captured the video before it was deleted and threatened to release it if they weren’t monetarily compensated.
Savage refused to give the person money and instead decided to publicly speak about the leaked video in order to own the narrative. Savage revisited the incident on Asake‘s 2022 single “Loaded”, which she was featured in.
