Lagbaja’s former backup singer, Ego, loses husband
Nwakaego Iheanacho, popularly known as Ego and former backup vocalist to legendary singer, Lagbaja, has lost her husband, Niyi Ogbaro.
Ogbaro, according to Chris Kehinde, passed away on Wednesday in the United States.
He shared a photo of the couple on Instagram page on Thursday with the caption: “Ohh No Victor Niyi Ogbaro this can’t be true. Victor, and husband of Ego di€d today from what I just learnt. May his soul rest in peace.”
Ego Iheanacho and Ogbaro tied the knot in 2009. They, however, lived apart for a while. Before her husband’s demise, Ego removed Ogbaro from her social media accounts fuelling rumours of tro¥ble in their marriage.
Ego and Lagbaja made hits such as ‘Konko Below’, ‘Nothing for You’ and ‘Never Far Away’ among others. She later left him to pursue a solo career.
Nwakaego Ihenacho Ogbaro, known professionally as Ego, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Ego has recorded songs such as “Konko Below”, “Nothing for You” and “Never Far Away”.
She frequently went on world tour with Lagbaja. Ego left Africano to pursue a solo career in 2007. She later formed a band called Indigo.
Since leaving Lagbaja’s band, she has collaborated with artistes like Sunny Nneji, Djinee, Tosin Martins, Ayanbirin and Blaise, among others.
The talented vocalist attended Central Primary School and Ikeja High School, GRA in Lagos. She graduated from high school in 1991.
