Kevin Patrick Has Been Released by WWE

Kevin Patrick is no longer employed by WWE as he has been released by the company. Reports indicate that the company is not happy with his commentary.

Patrick, real name Kevin Egan, joined the company in March 2021, where he worked as a backstage correspondent for Monday Night Raw, as a play-by-play commentator for WWE Main Event, and as the host of Raw Talk.

Before going to WWE, Patrick had worked as a studio host, play-by-play commentator, and reporter. Patrick started his career by working for RTE, Ireland’s National Broadcaster, where he covered soccer events and the 2004 Olympics.

In 2009, he went to work for the Big Ten Network before being hired by the Chicago Fire Soccer Club as a television commentator and analyst from 2012-2015. He went to Miami to join beIN SPORTS as a studio presenter and match commentator.

WWE tenure

Patrick replaced Jimmy Smith as the lead announcer of WWE Raw a few years ago as WWE had high hopes for Patrick. Last August, WWE changed up the announce teams by putting Michael Cole with him as they believed him working alongside Cole would contribute to his growth as a broadcaster.

WWE quickly changed plans for the SmackDown announce team earlier this month once Cole was removed from SmackDown and just focused on Raw. Word broke earlier this week that Patrick was removed from the role.

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Patrick started his career in the entertainment industry with RTE, Ireland’s National Broadcaster, where he worked on world-class soccer events and the 2004 Olympics.

Since moving to the United States in 2009, he has worked for the likes of Big Ten Network, the Chicago Fire Soccer Club, beIN SPORTS, CNN International and Sirius XM.

Patrick arrived in WWE in March of 2021, being introduced to the WWE Universe by his fellow backstage colleague, Sarah Schreiber, just a few hours ahead of making his Monday Night Raw debut.

He quickly became a fixture every Monday night, not only on Raw, but as the regular co-host of Raw Talk, often times paired with on-again, off-again 24/7 Champion R-Truth.

On January 23, 2024, it was reported that Patrick has removed from the SmackDown commentary team. Two days later, he was released from his contract due to WWE not being happy with his announcing skills.
