Woman Drove Home at 2 A.M. When Boyfriend Wouldn’t Let Her Put Fresh Sheets on His Dirty Bed

A woman says her boyfriend’s bad bed habits recently caused an issue in their relationship.

In a post on Reddit’s “Am I the A—–,” a woman, 41, said she and her boyfriend, 39, live “about an hour” away from each other, and that they were planning on spending the night at his place before they got into it over his dirty bed.

“My bf knows that I’m particular about the bed, and I almost always change his bedsheets when I come over, because he rarely changes them,” she wrote. “Well last night, when I was going to change the bed, he wouldn’t let me.”

“He had a dirty, ripped up fitted sheet that wasn’t even stretched over the entire mattress leaving half of it bare, and the side that was covered was full of big holes revealing the dirty mattress underneath,” she explained.

“I told him there was no way I was sleeping in a bed like that and asked him to let me fix it,” she added.

But even though “it would have taken me 3 minutes, and he didn’t have to do anything,” her boyfriend put his foot down. “He said the bed was fine; turned out the lights and hopped in,” she wrote.

Not wanting to back down, the woman said she “continued to beg him to let me put fresh sheets on and threatened to drive home.”

Unfortunately, her boyfriend wouldn’t budge. “He said I was being ridiculous,” she wrote.

The final straw came when she asked if she could at least get a blanket so she could sleep on the couch. “He threw a dirty stained mattress cover at me and said ‘use this,’ ” she wrote.

Unable to change his mind or his sheets, she said she “left and drove all the way home, at 2 a.m.”

The woman went on to say that the couple were planing on visiting his family the following morning, since they live nearby, but as she was leaving, she told her boyfriend to forget it.

“I wasn’t driving all the way back,” she added. Of course, the next day, he called her and told her she “was rude” and that he was mad at her.

Fortunately for her, most of her fellow Redditors thought she wasn’t the one in the wrong.

“Any boyfriend/girlfriend who cares about their partner’s comfort, would make a decent effort to provide them with a clean bed to sleep on,” one commenter wrote.

Other commenters also suggested that the woman “seriously consider” if she really wants to be in a relationship with her boyfriend.
