Marriage advice older women should stop giving younger women

Older women are known to give marriage advice to young women. Even though this is the normal thing to do, sometimes, these older women give destructive advice to young ladies.

This is because these older women were groomed to do everything to please their husbands even if it means displeasing themselves.

Some of them don’t see anything wrong with giving up who they are so that they can keep their marriages. They believe they should live for their husbands and ignore themselves.

Some older women battle with ailments in their later years because of the physical, emotional and psychological abuse they suffered in their marriages.

The kind of advice these older women give to younger ladies are not right. The scenario narrated below is one of such bad advice.

Marriage advice older women should stop giving younger women

I overheard an older woman advising a younger woman to quit her job so that she can keep her marriage.

She refused to listen to the young woman’s explanation that her husband doesn’t do something tangible to make money.

According to this lady, she’s the bread winner in her marriage of four years and is afraid of what will become of her two year old child.

Even with her explanations, this older woman is more concerned about her keeping a marriage with an inconsiderate and unserious man.

Young lady says she’s tired of the marriage and is ready to walk away if it means her retaining her job and means of livelihood.

Older woman is rebuking her and calling her stubborn. She advised her to humble herself and obey her husband.

According to this older woman, when God sees her obedience, He will bless her husband with money to take care of her and their child. 🙄

Ladies, it is not selfish to refuse to keep a marriage with an uncertain future with an irresponsible and wicked spouse.

You didn’t come to this world to suffer to keep one person who is not doing anything to keep you. Stand your ground on issues concerning your well being.

If your commitment to becoming a better woman leads to someone you love walking out of your life, know that you gained more than you lost.

You come first.
