A woman’s jewellery defines her personality -Eniola Salu

Eniola Salu-Akintunde is an award winning gemstones designer. She is CEO/ Head Creative Designer Styles By Saennys. She has been in the industry for over ten years and is motivated by women whose jewellery complements their dressing.

In this interview, she reveals why she prefers using polished precious stones and smooth fresh water pearls for her many designs.

What thrills you about designing Jewellery for women?

I love to see women stand out looking beautiful in their attire with beautiful accessories to match. It starts from me; I always like to look good, my clothes complement my accessories, this motivates me a lot to give to other women what I enjoy myself.

What kind of women would wear your designs?

I design jewellery for women who want to wear real rocks, and women who appreciate gemstones.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see a woman’s jewellery?

If the jewellery sits well on her and if it complements her dressing, I tell her how lovely it is and then my imagination begins to run on how I can make it even better.

In your opinion, what does a woman’s jewellery says about her?

A woman’s jewellery says a lot about her, it defines her personality and her class.

What items go into your designs and why?

From the onset, l decided to create a niche for my jewellery line, so l design jewellery using high grade and well polished precious stones and semi precious gemstones, smooth fresh water pearls with no blemishes and good coral. I do that because l want to be distinct.

How long have you been making jewellery and how affordable are they?

l have been in this industry for over 10years, we have gemstones jewellery for every class. My products are affordable, depending on what the client wants. Though there are some precious stone that we have to design with precious metal, and that is for the elites.

You recently opened a new store. Does it mean that designing jewelleries is very lucrative? 

Well, it is. It depends on how much you put into it, such as your creativity, time, resources, and dedication. It all counts. And yes, we recently opened a one of a kind jewellery store in Lagos.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am a graduate of industrial Relation and Personnel Management from the University of Lagos, Akoka. I am a native of Etsako West of Edo State, CEO /The Head Creative Designer at Styles By Saennys. I am also Founding Member and Chairperson Beaded Jewellery Designers Association of Nigeria (BJDAN).
