Anne Heche’s eldest son wants to be in charge of his late mother’s estate after the actress died earlier this month without a will, according to legal documents.
Twenty-year-old Homer Heche Laffoon made the request in Los Angeles County Court this week to take control of her fortune.
In his petition to the court, Laffoon points out that the only two surviving heirs of his mother’s estate are himself and his younger brother Atlas, who is a minor.
However, he also says that it is unclear how much money or property Heche, 53, had to her name before she died. In the filing, Homer lists his mother’s personal property and her annual income as ‘unknown’.
Laffoon is also asking the court to be named as the legal guardian of his brother. The filing, seen by The Blast, says “The Estate consists of two intestate heirs, Homer Heche Laffoon and Atlas Heche Tupper.
Homer Heche Laffoon is an adult and the proposed Administrator. Atlas Heche Tupper is a minor. Filed concurrently with this petition is a Petition for Appointment of Guardian ad Litem for the minor, which specifically requests that the guardian ad litem be granted the authority to waive bond on behalf of the minor.”
Anne Heche was divorced from Homer’s father Coleman ‘Coley’ Laffoon. He therefore will have no standing in this case. Unless someone contests Homer’s claim, he is expected to take charge of his mother’s finances.
“My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom,” Homer said in a statement to Fox News Digital after his mother’s tragic death. “After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”
“I loved her and I miss her, and I’m always going to,” Coleman Laffoon said. “Homer is okay. He’s grieving, of course, and it’s rough. It’s really rough, as probably anybody can imagine.
