Lesbian couple fear they could be half-sisters after shocking revelation from their mums
A lesbian couple on TikTok have questioned whether or not they should stay together after they had the shocking revelation that they could be half-sisters.
Canadian couple Carley Gonschior and Mercedes Stewart claim to have discovered that both their mothers had slept with the same man after two years of dating.
“When you find out two years into dating that your moms both slept with the same guy,” they said in a now-viral TikTok video.
The couple claimed in a later TikTok posted on Monday (20 June) that they had ordered DNA tests and hoped to see the results in a few weeks.
“When they come, you have to spit in the tube and send it off. So it’s like a few-week process,” Carley said.
The pair, who have a successful YouTube channel, as well as their TikTok account with more than 618,000 followers, have received criticism for the idea that they may stay together if DNA evidence proves they are related.
The lesbian couple asked in a comment if it was wrong to stay together “if we’re actually related”, however a commenter pointed out that incest is illegal in their home country of Canada, even if they do not have children.
The subject, however, has been more divided than some might expect, with one commenter saying: “The only problem is society. They cant have kids together so what issues can it cause.”
Another replied to several positive comments with: “Are you serious? Are you trying to justify INCEST?”
However many of Gonschior and Stewart’s fans merely poked fun at the fact that the pair have quite similar appearances.
“No I have no idea who you guys are and I immediately thought you were sisters before reading the text,” one TikTok user said.
Another comment read: “You mean you guys didn’t think you were sisters already? You basically have the same face.”
