Maya Jama and Stormzy aren’t back together despite fan excitement over rumoured reunion

Maya Jama has shrugged off speculation she’s back together with Stormzy after they were apparently spotted together at the GQ Men of the Year 2022 awards.

The former flames were in attendance at the star studded bash on Wednesday evening, prompting plenty of rumours as fans went wild thinking they had rekindled their romance.

However, Maya’s team has confirmed the claims are unfounded and they aren’t in a relationship again, having split in 2019 after four years together.

While that seems fair enough – especially as they were simply out at an awards night with the likes of Pierce Brosnan, John Boyega, Salma Hayek, Rochelle Humes and more all joining in the fun.

Speaking to The Sun, a source had claimed Maya Jama and Stormzy were spotted chatting in a quiet corner during the event at Pavilion member’s club in Knightsbridge.

The rumours came as the TV star stepped out in style at the grand opening of Bacchanalia London on Thursday evening,

This got plenty of fans excited, with some of them saying the speculation gave them ‘hope’.

‘Stormzy bagged Maya again. What a comeback. There’s hope in this life ooooo,’ tweeted one Twitter user, while another added: ‘Never have I cared more about a public relationship than stormzy and maya (sic)’

A different fan compared their story to the will they/won’t they plot in Friends, as they quipped: ‘Stormzy and Maya would be the biggest get back since Ross & Rachel.’

‘Good souls always find a way to get back together,’ wrote a fourth fan – and while that may be true, it doesn’t mean the two stars have reconnected.

The rumours come after Maya split from NBA star Ben Simmons, whom she got engaged to last December, over the summer after a tough time in their long-distance relationship.

Meanwhile, Stormzy recently opened up about his own breakup from Maya and described the end of their relationship as his ‘biggest mistake’.

He told Louis Theroux: ‘My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.
