“This rigging of election will not work, we will sue INEC” says actress Ruth Kadiri
Nigerian actress Ruth Kadiri has posed an important question to the electoral body, INEC as collation of election results continue throughout the country.
The actress took to her Instagram page to question INEC’s approach on the release of results in different polling unit.
The mother of two expressed her belief that politicians cannot rig elections without the help of INEC officials.
She said that the electoral body should provide election results based on polling units rather than on a state or national level. This would allow citizens to verify the results and ensure their votes count easily.
In her words: “INEC has proven to be the most fraudulent; politicians cannot rig the election without INEC. And I wonder how we have missed the point all this while…I know the number of my polling unit same way with every other person. So if INEC is giving us results, they should give us results based on our polling unit, the worst that can happen is that they will tell us certain number of votes are ineligible. This rigging of election will not work, we will sue INEC”.
In the same vein, Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha has called out an INEC ad-hoc staff who approached the electoral process with bias.
Tacha sent a subtle message to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad-hoc staff in the 2023 general election.
There had been reports about atrocities committed by INEC and NYSC members at different polling units all over the country, with video evidence making rounds on social media. These videos have also gone viral with many Nigerians tagging INEC to the clips.
Tacha addressed the NYSC members that are been used to rig election results. While noting that they refused to upload election results, she reminded them that the system using them will leave them without a job.
