Guinness World Records Confirms Hilda As New Record Holder for Longest Cooking Marathon

27-year-old chef Hilda Baci has been officially announced as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon for an individual.

The announcement was made on Guinness World Record’s Twitter page, throwing Nigerians into instant jubilation.

Chef Hilda Baci broke down in tears after receiving the news of her certification as the new record holder for the longest cooking by an individual.

 

The GWR, in a statement on its website on Tuesday, said, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.”

In a video on her Instagram Story, Baci was seen in tears as she received the news about her new achievement.

 

Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total cooking hours because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

During the cook-a-thon, a video shows the epic moment Hilda Baci, the rave of the moment turned off her gas after cooking for over 100 hours.

The determined lady from Akwa Ibom state broke the record of 87 hours, 40 minutes, after cooking for 100 hours and 40 minutes.

Nigerians who were at the venue to cheer her up sang the National anthem while she stood at attention.

The cook-a-thon finally came to an end amidst cheers and jubilation on the scene, leaving Hilda’s name in the mouth of everyone.

Hilda Baci’s win is a big win for all Nigerians and Africa as a whole as many Nigerians on different social media platforms have started sending in their congratulatory messages to Hilda as they share in her happiness after achieving her goal.
