Prince Harry, Meghan Markle alleged split: Couple’s ‘trial separation’ caused by ‘nasty fights’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are on “trial separation” after “nasty fights” caused by months of backlash, business failures and clashing lifestyles, according to a new report.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have taken a “trial separation” four years into their marriage after recent humiliation and snubs, according to a palace insider.

“He needs to go find himself. A trial separation may be the only way they can resolve their differences and go forward stronger than ever,” a source spilled to a publication.

Conflicting reports about the state of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage have sparked confusion after what’s undoubtedly been a challenging year for the pair.

It kicked off when Radar Online reported on Tuesday that the couple is “taking time apart” in an effort to heal and rebuild their bond amid a rocky period, with both “trying to figure out what hit them”.

But a Sussex insider quickly hit back, telling Page Six that any speculation of a break-up is “untrue”.

News.com.au has reached out to a representative of Harry and Meghan for clarification.

The couple themselves have not made any comment on the matter and when last publicly referencing their relationship – in their Harry & Meghan docu-series and Harry’s memoir, Spare – appeared to be very much in love.

However, they’ve been seen together only a handful of times in the months since, with just one official joint appearance this year.

In Radar’s report, the source claimed that “Harry doesn’t fit in Meghan’s tacky Tinseltown world” and is hoping to “find himself”, three years on from his move from the UK to the US.

Citing Harry’s upcoming solo Netflix project in Africa, the source added that he feels “most like himself” there and considers it “his second home”.

The insider also claimed that the “tremendous financial pressure” of continuing to fund their family’s lavish California lifestyle following their exit from royal duties has added huge “stress” to their five-year marriage, with the collapse of their Spotify deal proving “a game-changer”.

“That stress, coupled with their emotional issues, has likely made life a living hell,” they said.

“Taking time apart on different continents will hopefully help them find whatever they need to move on.”

The speculation around Harry and Meghan’s relationship follows reports that the duchess is shifting away from collaborations with her husband.

It came amid plenty of curiosity around what might come next for the pair after the axing of their $29 million Spotify deal and doubts about the renewal of their massive $150 million Netflix contract.

According to the UK’s Bella magazine, Meghan has decided to “step away” from their joint brand to focus on solo projects.

The publication cited the unexpected blow of losing their Spotify deal as a factor in her decision to establish her own separate brand.

“Meghan feels she’ll have better success if she takes the time to work on projects alone without Harry – even though he always gives her his full support,” a source said.

The insider added that signing with Hollywood talent agency WME – which also represents Adele and Serena Williams – was about making her a “power player” in the industry in her own right.

The latest development with Harry and Meghan comes amid reports the couple is claiming they’ve been “repeatedly unlucky” in their attempts to relaunch themselves since quitting royal duties.
