I keep seeing preserving the sanctity of marriage today on Facebook because of the trip to Venice competition.
You don’t joke with a man’s wife, they claim. You don’t destroy people’s marriages because yours didn’t work out, they shout. You don’t insult a man because of money, they whine.
What happened to this sanctity of marriage when men treat their wives like crap and justify their actions with lame excuses?
What happened to this sanctity of marriage when men take their side chicks abroad and leave their wives and children with peanuts to feed with?
What happened to this sanctity of marriage when women who send hide my identity posts to different groups are told to face their children and ignore their irresponsible husbands?
What happened to this sanctity of marriage when a woman is told not to touch her husband’s phone because what she doesn’t know won’t kill her even when she has proof that he’s a serial cheat?
Where are the preachers of the sanctity of marriage when women are told to send away their underage house helps after their husbands rape and sexually molest them?
What happened to sanctity of marriage when a woman is told to fight her husband’s side chicks because they are the real home breakers and her husband is a baby?
Where is sanctity of marriage when women are treated like doormats by their husbands and family members and commanded to submit more to their abusers?
Where is the sanctity of marriage when some men beat their wives, strip them naked before their children, neighbors and family members?
It’s like preserving the sanctity of marriage is reserved only for Nigerian women. Nigerian women must die preserving the sanctity of dead, unhappy and miserable marriages.
These preachers of sanctity of marriage suddenly go deaf, blind and dumb when men misbehave but find their croaked voices when the shoe is on the other foot.
I am reading comments from some people about this trip to Venice and I can’t help but laugh at the glaring hypocrisy. Some men will burst their veins insulting Francis.
Meanwhile, some people have turned it into a tribal thing. They claim that the competition is aimed at disgracing Igbo women. I’m laughing in spiritual language.
