10 signs you deserve better than what your current relationship has to offer

0

Dear woman, you deserve a relationship that makes you feel loved, happy, and fulfilled. Life is too short to endure a relationship where you question what you truly deserve because of the way your partner treats you.

Superiority, disrespect, inequality, ingratitude, lack of quality communication and sense of entitlement make relationships toxic and problematic. Nobody should put up with a disrespectful, withdrawn and badly behaved partner.

In intimate relationships, there should be love, understanding and mutual respect for each other’s time, effort, person, dreams, friendships and family members. No matter how much your partner claims to love you, if they disrespect you and your loved ones, you won’t be happy in that relationship.

If you are dissatisfied in a relationship, some contemplation is necessary. If you have been true to your word by being committed, supportive, caring, truthful, and loving to your partner but keep feeling a deep sense that something is wrong, it’s up to you to uncover the source of this dissatisfaction.

Sometimes, relationships come to an end because one or both parties come to the realization that they deserve better than what is being offered by their current romantic partner. And it is perfectly okay to demand better than you are being offered. It doesn’t make you a bad person. It shows that you know what you want and don’t settle for less.

While some women have a good idea of what they shouldn’t tolerate in a relationship, sometimes, when they have been in a situation for a long time, the lines get blurred. Some women start making excuses for not getting what they deserve from their relationship and it’s sad.

So if you need a reminder that you deserve better in your relationship, below are 10 signs that you deserve better than your current relationship.

You are not your partner’s priority

When you are not or are no longer a priority in someone’s life, it’s obvious. That alone is a significant enough reason to leave the relationship. There are times when people become overwhelmed with work and other responsibilities that they temporarily lose sight of what is important. That looks different from being completely treated like they don’t matter at all.

You are the only person making efforts in the relationship

Maintaining a healthy relationship takes work but the work is not burdensome when both parties are putting in the effort that it takes to sustain the romance. You deserve a partner who stands side by side with you and matched your efforts to keep your romance alive. You shouldn’t be the only one doing all it takes to make your relationship work.

The bad times outweigh the good

All relationships experience challenges. Things will never be good 100 percent of the time, but if the bad times drastically and consistently outweigh the good times, it’s probably a sign that this is not the relationship for you. You should know that you deserve better than you are getting in your current relationship.

Your partner puts you down

Some people only feel good when they are criticizing the people around them. You deserve better than a partner who has a tendency to put you down and make you feel bad about yourself. Insecure partners are good at making their other half feel small and insignificant. This is how to realize you deserve better.

Your relationship lacks kindness

Kindness is given freely to strangers. A sure sign that you are in the wrong relationship is when your partner is incapable of offering you kindness and common courtesy. You deserve better than a partner who is cruel, nasty, or mean. You need to stop making excuses for being treated with disrespect. You deserve better than you are getting.

Your partner allows others to disrespect you

Any time your partner allows their relatives or friends to disrespect you without speaking up, you should take note of that. Their actions say a lot. Obviously, keeping the peace or staying in the good graces of certain people is more important than protecting you, which means it’s time to leave.

You are genuinely unhappy

If you are completely unhappy in your relationship, that’s a good enough reason to leave. This doesn’t mean that your partner is a bad person. It  means that you deserve to be in relationships that makes you feel loved and happy. This is one of the signs you deserve better than him.

There’s an imbalanced power dynamic

If your partner causes you to feel as though you don’t have a voice or a say regarding what goes on in your life or in your home, you deserve better. Healthy relationships have even power dynamics. Nobody l should hold all of the power or make all of the decisions while undermining the other person’s contributions and suggestions.

You don’t feel supported

You deserve a partner who encourages you to pursue your goals and live out your dreams, but it’s even deeper than that. Your partner should be your shoulder to lean on during times of adversity and your loudest cheerleader in times of success. You don’t deserve to be with someone who feels threatened by your brilliance and life goals.

Your partner doesn’t communicate their feelings

Communication is a part of intimacy. Healthy communication is what enables two people to live with each other in harmony and synchrony. Weak communication disrupts every aspect of the relationship; leading to frustration and resentment. If your partner doesn’t communicate his feelings all the time, it’s a sign that you deserve a better relationship than your current one.

What does it mean if your partner says you deserve better?

When a guy says you deserve better, believe him. It is not that he is not good enough for you, it’s just that he knows he cannot give you what you desire.

When he says you deserve better, he is telling you that he isn’t ready to become a better person for you and someone that truly deserves you. You should move on with your life.
