Weight loss benefits of pineapple juice
Pineapple juice has weight loss benefits but many people don’t know this. I used to think pineapple would jeopardize my weight loss journey. Even though drinking pineapple juice everyday is not advisable because of the fructose content, this juice can help you lose belly fat.
Many people struggle with belly fat because it is hard to lose. Doing endless sit ups and belly crunches won’t help you lose belly fat if you are not eating the right foods and drinking belly blasting beverages. If you want to lose belly fat, drink pineapple juice.
Pineapple juice is a great remedy for belly fat. I am speaking from my experience. It contains an important enzyme called bromelain which helps in metabolizing protein and burns away excess stomach fat. Bromelain works with other enzymes such as lipase to digest fats and suppress your appetite.
Here are some benefits of pineapple juice which can also help you lose weight:
1. Rich in nutrients
Pineapple juice is rich in copper, manganese, and vitamins B6 and C. These nutrients play an important role in bone health, immunity, wound healing and energy production. It also contains trace amounts of iron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, choline, and vitamin K.
2. Helps suppress inflammation
Pineapple juice contains bromelain, a group of enzymes that may help reduce inflammation caused by trauma, injuries, surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, or osteoarthritis.
3. Protects your body from damage
Pineapple juice is a good source of antioxidants which help keep your body healthy. Antioxidants help neutralize unstable compounds known as free radicals, which can build up in your body due to factors like pollution, stress, unhealthy diet and cause cell damage.
4. Boosts immunity
Pineapple juice contributes to a stronger immune system. This is due to the bromelain enzyme. This enzyme activates your immune system and protects your body from disease attacks. Bromelain may also improve recovery from infections, such as pneumonia, sinusitis, and bronchitis, especially when used with antibiotics.
5. Improves heart health
The bromelain naturally found in pineapple juice also benefits your heart. This enzyme helps reduce high blood pressure, prevent the formation of blood clots, and minimize the severity of heart diseases.
6. Helps with digestion
The enzymes in pineapple juice function as proteases. Proteases help break down protein into smaller subunits, such as amino acids and small peptides, which can then be more easily absorbed in your gut. Pineapple juice helps you digest your food so that you can be healthy.
Bad digestion can lead to weight gain because you are not able to absorb and assimilate your nutrients properly. In addition, when indigestion occurs, you may not be able to eliminate waste from your body efficiently. This leads to slowing down of the metabolic rate, which makes it more difficult to burn calories properly for weight loss.
7. Good source of fibre
In addition to being a great source of vitamin C and manganese, the flesh of pineapple is a good source of fibre. Fibre is beneficial to weight loss because it fills you up and induces a sense of satiety. This leads to less bingeing which ultimately results in weight loss.
How pineapple juice helped me lose weight
Three months ago, I noticed that I wasn’t eating enough vegetables to help me lose weight. I was worried because I didn’t want to go back to eating anyhow and then start gaining all the weight I lost back.
I came up with a plan to blend my vegetables instead and drink them. But then I was faced with the drab taste of blended vegetables. I decided to sweeten my green juice with pineapples and I haven’t looked back since then.
Blending cucumber, lettuce, apple and pineapple has helped curbed my love for sugar sweetened drinks and packaged juices. My sweet tooth is now under control. I no longer crave soda like before. I feel healthier and slimmer too.
Every week, I blend cucumber, pineapple, apple, ginger with one or two green vegetables. These vegetables include spinach, celery, parsley, kale, lettuce, mint leaves and pumpkin leaves. I use any two readily available. I also add lemon or lime to the juice if I feel like it.
After blending them until they are almost smooth, I store them in bottles and freeze them. I don’t sieve them because I love tasting the flesh of these fruits and vegetables. Most times, I drink a bottle of this natural goodness for dinner. My skin looks clearer and my body is healthier. I feel lighter too.
Is pineapple juice good before bed? Yes, you can enjoy a glass of pineapple juice before going to bed. The consumption of melatonin, a hormone found in pineapples may increase the concentration of melatonin in your blood. Melatonin can help reset your circadian rhythm, also known as your 24-hour sleep and wake cycle which will help you sleep better.
Beside drinking Pineapple juice, eating pineapple is good for your body. When you eat a few slices of fresh pineapple a day, your body will be free from harmful free radicals and disease. You will also enjoy increased energy, boost your metabolism, and nourish your hair and skin at the same time. This is what will happen if you eat pineapple everyday.
How to make pineapple juice
You can prepare a fresh glass of pineapple juice in the comfort of your home. Pineapples are best when consumed fresh, as the enzymes and nutrients begin to disappear quickly once they are cut.
1. Carefully peel the pineapple and chop it into small chunks.
2. Now add these pineapple pieces in a blender and add water.
3. Blend well until you get a smooth juice.
4. If you want, strain the juice using a strainer.
5. You can add more water if the juice is too thick for you.
6. Pour the juice in a glass and drink up or refrigerate for a while and enjoy it cool.
Please note:
If you are diabetic, pineapple juice is not a recommended drink for you as it may raise your blood sugar levels. Pineapple juice contains simple sugars known as fructose and glucose.
Drinking too much of pineapple juice may hamper your weight loss goals too, due to the presence of fructose which adds to your empty calorie count. Fructose promotes the feeling of eating more, as opposed to glucose which induces feeling of satiety.
When it comes to drinking pineapple juice, moderation is the key to enjoying its weight loss benefits and enjoying optimal health. Too much of everything is bad. You can lose weight by drinking pineapple juice but don’t overdo it. In the end, pineapple juice is good for weight loss.
