Record-setting OAU graduate, Dr Joy Oyinlola Adesina, gets house, 5 million Naira and scholarship from Ogun state government
The Ogun State Government has rewarded an indigene of the state Joy Oyinlola Adesina, for her sterling academic performance at the Obafemi Awolowo University.
The young lady emerged the best graduating student ever produced in the history of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
“Receiving Dr Joy Oyinlola Adesina, the best graduating student ever produced in the history of her department in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, I presented a house, cash and scholarship awards on behalf of the Ogun State Government.
The multiple award-winning Dr Adesina, a proud indigene of Ogun State, graduated from the Department of Medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU.
In line with the state government’s commitment to hard work portrayed in indigenes within and outside the state, she has been gifted a bungalow, a N5 million cash prize and a residency scholarship at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH,”Governor Dapo Abiodun said in a social media post on Wednesday.
Female students outperform male students in a range of indicators of academic performance. For instance, female students earn higher grades than male students. The female advantage in grades is particularly pronounced for languages and seems to increase with students’ age.
Female high school students earn higher grades than their male peers. The gender gap is particularly large in English, but female students also earn higher grades in math, social science, and science courses. The overall or composite scores of male and female students are quite similar.
Girls tend to mature a little faster than boys, developing language skills sooner and giving them the edge over boys in reading, writing, and speech. While boys are lagging behind girls on writing assignments, they are often ahead in math and science.
Evidence shows that educators need to have gender awareness to be open to girls’ and boys’ choices in learning and development, help children explore who they are, as well as gain self-confidence, well-being, peer acceptance, and social support.
