Sofia Vergara gets 5-year restraining order against alleged stalker recently released from prison
Sofia Vergara and her son can now feel relieved as they have been granted a permanent restraining order against a violent felon who was stalking the Hollywood actress.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, the stalker was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Vergara and her son Manolo Gonzalez as well as their workplaces.
California Superior Court commissioner Judge Christine J. Gonong granted the “Modern Family” alum’s request for Gregory Aaron Brown to stay away from Vergara and her family for the maximum order of five years.
Brown, 34, claimed to have had a “romantic and familial relationship” with the actress and her 32-year-old son, Manolo. He also repeatedly trespassed near her home in Los Angeles.
Vergara’s son is the additional protected person in the case. The person must also not “Harass, intimidate, molest, attack, strike, stalk, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise), hit abuse, destroy the personal property of, or disturb the peace of the person.”
He is not allowed to contact Vergara and her family through any means or take any action to obtain the actress and her son’s location.
Vergara’s attorney, Evan Spiegel, filed for the restraining order last month, according to The Independent.
In July, Brown was accused of bypassing security near Vergara’s home and yelling that the actress “is mine” when confronted. The incident allegedly occurred after he was released from prison on parole.
Two years earlier, Brown was convicted of vandalism in connection to Vergara’s property and was reportedly sentenced to 32 months in jail.
Court documents obtained by TMZ also claim that, in November of this year, Brown mailed Vergara a “disturbing letter,” noting that “he’ll be seeing and hearing her very soon.”
“Brown’s ongoing, aggressive and harassing conduct and messages are extremely distressing and are causing me constant anxiety and emotional distress,” Vergara reportedly said in previous court docs.
